Partnering With SMMC
SMMC is a regional organization, dedicated to foster entrepreneurship in the south metro area. We welcome the opportunity to hold classes in any of the counties in our area.
NACOM
In January of 2008, SMMC and the University of Georgia – Griffin Campus partnered together to present Business Plan Basics to the displaced employees of NACOM. NACOM was a major employer in the Spalding County area for more than a decade. When plans were made to move their manufacturing plant to South America, SMMC stepped up with a plan.
SMMC offered a customized, shortened class just for NACOM employees. 22 employees, including line workers, shift managers and executives, attended the 10-session, 6 week class. Since the vast majority of employees were losing their jobs, self-employment became a practical and direct solution to unemployment. NACOM included this class in their tuition reimbursement program, so that each graduate was able to attend the class at no cost. Several successful businesses were started from the graduates of the NACOM class.
Customized Classes
SMMC offers customized classes to suit your organizations needs. Not only do we have a curriculum for micro enterprises, we also offer classes on Alternative Agriculture and Youth Entrepreneurship.
We are available for shorter, more directed classes for lunch and learn sessions, after hour classes, or other situations. We’re flexible, so don’t be afraid to ask!
